Harvest Season for Qinghai Goji Berry
In the beginning of autumn, the goji berry, known as the "sacred fruit of the plateau", is red through the Chaidamu Basin, and goji berries hang over all the branches.
Walking into the goji berry base of Huaitoutala Farm in the Chaidamu Basin, the goji berry garden is flaming red, and the bunches of goji berries are bright in color, full-bodied and gratifying. The pickers are busy picking this year's first stubble of goji berries.
The Chaidamu Basin has a complex and diverse topography and is the most concentrated area of high-altitude biodiversity in the world. In particular, the content of organic substances such as flavonoids, polysaccharides, and amino acids grown in Lycium barbarum is higher than that in other domestic production areas, making it the most suitable for the production of organic goji berry in the world.
From the end of July to the end of September each year, Qinghai goji berries matures. Pickers from all over the country come to the Chaidamu Basin to pick goji berry. This year, the planting area of goji berry in the Chaidamu Basin exceeds 440,000 mu, and more than 400,000 mu has entered the picking period. It is estimated that at least more than 75,000 workers will be employed.
