The functions of star anise
Star anise contains volatile oil, the main components of which are anisole, anisaldehyde and anisone. It also contains fatty oil, protein, resin, etc. Shikimic acid can also be extracted, which is the main raw material for preparing the anti-influenza drug Tamiflu.
(1) Promote gastrointestinal motility
The main ingredient of star anise is fennel oil, which can stimulate gastrointestinal nerves and blood vessels, promote the secretion of digestive juice, increase gastrointestinal peristalsis, have the effects of strengthening the stomach and promoting qi, and help relieve cramps and relieve pain;
(2) Increase white blood cells
Fennel dilute can promote the maturation of bone marrow cells and release peripheral blood. It has a significant effect of increasing white blood cells, mainly neutrophils, and can be used for leukopenia.
(3) Inhibit bacteria
After taking star anise decoction, it has antibacterial effect on human tubercle bacillus and subtilis. The ethanol extract has a strong inhibitory effect on common pathogenic bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus, pneumococcus, diphtheria bacillus, Escherichia coli, typhoid fever and paratyphoid bacillus, dysentery bacillus.
(4) Has estrogenic activity
The anethole in star anise has estrogenic activity.
